LabCollector v6.31: AI-Powered Lab Management

New AI-Powered tools across LabCollector

AI is becoming a bigger part of LabCollector, with a wide range of new tools designed to simplify repetitive laboratory tasks and improve daily workflows. In v6.31, this includes AI-assisted storage setup: instead of manually creating racks, boxes, drawers, and naming structures one by one, users can now describe their storage setup naturally and let the AI generate the structure automatically. For labs managing large freezer systems, this can save a huge amount of time while reducing setup errors.

LabCollector now also includes AI-assisted recipe generation. Users can describe the media or reagent they want to prepare, and the system helps generate the recipe structure, identify components, and prefill forms automatically.

The update also introduces AI-assisted import mapping to help recognize uploaded data structures and simplify imports, along with a new Smart Search assistant capable of retrieving information across modules using natural language queries.

To support these new tools, administrators can now monitor AI usage statistics directly inside the platform.

Better visibility across the lab

LabCollector v6.31 introduces visual facility maps with drag-and-drop storage placement. Teams can upload facility layouts, place freezers and shelves directly onto maps, and navigate storage areas visually.

Improved integrations and alerts

Office 365 integration has also been expanded. Users can now preview and edit Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files directly from LabCollector using Microsoft 365 online tools.

Alerts and notifications received a full visual refresh too. Maintenance reminders, expired records, long delivery alerts, and scheduler notifications are now cleaner, easier to read, and much more modern.

Better forecasting and inventory visibility

The Reagents & Supplies module also gets major improvements.

LabCollector can now analyze stock movements and consumption history to estimate when products may run low or become unavailable. New forecast indicators help teams anticipate shortages earlier and improve purchasing planning.

Additional filters were added for quantities, volumes, and lot forecasting, giving users more visibility into inventory trends and reagent usage over time.

The platform also improves Safety Data Sheet management. SDS documents can now be previewed directly inside records, and LabCollector can automatically retrieve SDS information from external databases to simplify documentation workflows.

Easier imports and batch updates

Imports are now much easier to troubleshoot.

Instead of generic error messages, LabCollector can now identify problematic rows, duplicates, and invalid values directly inside import logs. Users immediately know where the issue comes from, making large Excel imports far easier to correct.

This improvement also extends to chemical structure imports, where the system can now identify faulty lines inside MOL files and provide clearer feedback.

Stronger compliance and traceability

Several improvements in v6.31 also focus on compliance and auditability.

Purchase workflows can now automatically block actions when a supplier becomes non-compliant, improving traceability in regulated environments.

Exports now include more contextual information such as timestamps, user details, and saved search references, making audit tracking easier.

Refreshed alerts and notifications

Alerts and notifications received a major visual refresh.

Maintenance reminders, expired records, scheduler notifications, long delivery alerts, and maintenance contract expiration emails now have a cleaner and more modern design, making important information easier to spot quickly.

LabCollector v6.31 also introduces direct changelog access inside the Admin section, allowing users to review platform updates and improvements directly from the interface.

More flexible genealogy workflows

The Animals module also became more flexible in this release.

LabCollector now better supports both animal genealogy and human genealogy workflows within the same system. Animal-specific wording and visuals were revised to create a more neutral experience when used for human genealogy projects.
